Even if I didn’t believe that it was summer from the fact that kiddo is out of school and that it’s June, the weather would sure convince me. It is hotter than hell this week. I knew that beautiful spring weather wouldn’t last, but I was so hopeful. This week, it’s been blazing!
Of course, what do we do yesterday? We decide to go to the zoo. “Smart move!” After an hour, I was soaked to the bone and little man was begging to go back to the car and go home, where there is air conditioning and a pool. We only lasted another hour and you know what, I think the animals were feeling the same way we were. Half of them were a no show and the rest were just laying in the shade all stretched out. It was just the monkeys, jumping in the trees and laughing at all of up poor saps who decided to go to the zoo in a 100-degree weather. Yes, I’m quite convinced that’s what they were doing, laughing their butts off. The sounds they were making sounded just like a human rolling laughter.
After a couple of hours, an unsuccessful giraffe feeding (I’m sure he felt it was too hot to eat), being laughed at by monkeys, and too hot to care, we waddled to the car and went home. As soon as we got home, all I could think of was coffee. We got up very early to try to get to the zoo while it was still cooler in the morning (a lot of good that did) and between that and the sun, I needed an early afternoon pick-me-up.
But we were still not cooled off from being outside so hot coffee was out of the question. Although, frozen coffee was sounding REALLY good. I grabbed some Nutchello™ , instant espresso coffee and stuck my head in the freezer ice. Since Nutchello™ that I was using was dark chocolate and walnut flavored, I wanted to play off of those flavors and go for a full “turtle” flavor by adding some caramel and pecans. Blending all these fantastic flavors together in a frozen mocha is really the best way to enjoy my afternoon coffee and the best way to enjoy some Nutchello. Even the shady backyard becomes an enjoyable place with a glass of frozen coffee treat.
This is the second flavor on this new drink from Silk® that hubs and I are trying and we liked this one much more than the toasted coconut and cashews one. It has much more depth of flavor. Little man calls it his chocolate milk treat. With only one more flavor left to taste, we’re not sure is caramel almond cashew can stand up to this dark chocolate deliciousness.
