I have something cozy and delicious for you today, it’s a Homemade Warm Apple Pie Dip. Great comfort food to share on a cozy evening; a warm dip that’s made with a combination of cream cheese mix and homemade apple pie filling.

APPLE PIE DIP

I had a hard time deciding on the recipe to share today. I was in between a pumpkin recipe and an apple recipe so I asked my Facebook fans to help. Even though I got a lot of responses on the recipe, it did help at all! It was a tie! Many people asked for apple and just as many asked for pumpkin. I had no choice but to share one today and the other tomorrow.

So here is an apple recipe to warm your soul!

Seriously, this is such a cozy recipe that I almost wish it was cold outside so I can curl up in front of a roaring fire. Oh, who am I kidding, I always wish it was cold so I can sit in front of a fireplace. If you don’t want to eat it all by yourself, it’s also a perfect dip to share with the family on a quiet weekend.

If you’re not into the quiet weekend, since the football season is in full swing now, then share it with some loud friends, yelling at the T.V.!

Ingredients

Apple Pie Filling:

  • 3 gala apples
  • 3 tbs butter
  • 1 1/2 tbs flour
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
  • 2 tbs water

Cream Cheese Mix:

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbs milk

Instructions

  • Combine the ingredients for the cream cheese mix in a mixing bowl and beat well until light and fluffy.
  • Peel, core and dice the apples.
  • In a medium sauce pan, over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and stir well. Add the brown sugar and stir well.
  • Add the diced apples, apple pie spice and water, stir and cover. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft.
  • Cool the apple pie filling for a few minutes, so it's no longer scolding hot.
  • Fold the apple pie filling into the cream cheese mixture. Mix until evenly incorporated.
  • *Can be served with apple slices, unsalted pretzels, light plain cookies, graham crackers, baked pie crust, etc.

      Hi Danielle,
I don’t see why you can’t use canned the only thing is, I don’t know the consistency of canned pie filling. I don’t know how juicy it is but I’m sure it won’t hurt to try 🙂
