This is an easy, incredibly delicious and aromatic strawberry flavored buttercream frosting that’s perfect for many cupcakes and cakes. A sweet dessert to make for Valentine’s Day.

This Strawberry Buttercream Frosting is my new obsession. The flavor…the aroma…pure heaven! The texture is so light and smooth and strawberry flavor is perfectly pronounced. Best part is that it’s made with the easy Strawberry Sauce I shared a couple of days ago. The sauce has only four ingredients and makes this frosting special.
Of course, you don’t have to make this frosting just for Valentine’s Day. It makes a great cupcake for spring and summer parties. You can pair it with chocolate cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes, citrus and berry flavored cupcakes. You can also frost some sugar cookies with this deliciousness. If making a cake, add some fresh strawberries on top and in between cake layers and you’ll have a beautiful, berrylicious dessert.
(For these cupcakes, I used my favorite Duncan Hines Chocolate Cake mix but you can also use this recipe for chocolate cake.)
Strawberry Buttercream Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 2 1/2 cups powder sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 Tbsp Strawberry Sauce
- Beat butter with paddle attachment in an electric mixer, on medium-high speed, for a couple of minutes. Scrape sides and bottom of the bowl and beat for another couple more minutes until light and fluffy.
- Switch to whip attachment.
- On low speed, add vanilla strawberry sauce and powder sugar. Beat on low until sugar is incorporated and raise the speed to medium-high. Beat for 3-4 more minutes.
