Catching Up With An Old Friend Over Starbucks and Cinnamon Buns, #DeliciousPairings

Last night, as I got back home from yet another late night at Starbucks, my husband asked me if the school would give me a separate student loan for Starbucks expenses. See, library doesn’t seem to work with my hours and school library is only open late on weekdays. So, Starbucks to the rescue! I go there to study and do school work several times a week and spend quire a few hours in there. Actually, it’s usually full of students, working away on their laptop.

It does get pretty pricey, even if I just get a regular coffee. I do buy my own bag and brew it at home. I always have a bag at home, to brew a cup for myself, in the morning. First thing I do after the little guy wakes me up is to make him breakfast and make me some coffee.
Brewing my own rather than buying a cup every day cuts down on cost a lot. Especially if I go to Sam club and get the big big bag! Oh yea, that 28 oz bag should last me through the rest of the semester. The best part, is that the limited addition of Starbucks Holiday Blend is out now.
*Remember, when buying large amount of coffee at a time, it’s best to keep it fresh by keeping it in the freezer. A lot of times, I would buy two small bags at a time and keep one in the freezer until I need it.

The Holiday Blend is a full bodied, dark roast that is spicy and rich with aged Sumatran beans. A perfect blend of earthy Asia Pacific, lively Latin American and spicy, aged Sumatran beans. This blend has a sweet and spicy taste.
Starbucks’ Holiday blend would be paired perfectly with ginger, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange, and cloves flavors because of it’s blend of sweet and spicy. Think cinnamon rolls, pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, gingersnap cookies and snickerdoodles.

Last Saturday, I had a good old friend come over for a visit. I haven’t actually seen her in several months. Funny how you can live in the same city and never get a chance to hang out. Life gets busy between kids, schools and work. Before you know it, spring, summer and fall are gone in a flash.
I remember when we used to get together for apple martinis at least once a week. That was also B.C. (before child). At first, I wanted to get together over some appletinis but both of us have been working hard, studying. I thought that Starbucks Holiday blend coffee with some cinnamon rolls would make a great addition to our get-together. We had a great afternoon catching up.

Making Coffee Pretty

This was a first time that I tried to make coffee with foam and design. Turned out pretty well, didn’t it? I learned how to make foam for coffee without a frother on any machine on theKitchn! Totally worked!!
1. To make the heart, I just cut out a heart from a sheet of paper.
2. I placed the paper with the cut-out on top of the cup and sprinkled chocolate shavings over it. (For the chocolate shavings, I used leftover Halloween candy!)
Easy and so fun!
